Upper Room Youth Mission (URYM) was established in 2001 by Esther Pricilla. She herself was part of a campus revival during her undergraduate studies and after her completion the Lord burdened her to start campus ministry to reach out to students who are perishing without the knowledge of Jesus Christ. She started the first campus connect group in 2001 with 6 young girls whose main objective was to intercede for the youngsters of the country. Gradually a student prayer centre was set-up in G.P road, Chennai which was a hotspot for numerous colleges located in the vicinity of the city. God began to work as the movement was being birthed in the prayer room.

URYM began to spread its campus mission as students started to spearhead the mission by becoming soul winners. Every year discipleship camps were organized separately for boys and girls where hundreds of students would participate and be filled with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The movement began to grow spontaneously as the students from Chennai began to travel to other cities for higher education and naturally started URYM connect groups wherever they went on. The Lord himself has been holding the rudder of the ministry and has been leading it. In the coming years URYM is praying and preparing to establish Campus mission bases in all smart cities of India.
